Find Your Amazing

Being mentally handicapped is not a crutch, but rather an opportunity to shine a little brighter.

Every Friday afternoon I pick up pizza for work and bring it back to the shop. Today I was lucky enough that my routine was different.

I was too early and had to wait for the pizza so I decided to sit down and eat a slice. I noticed a mentally-handicapped gentleman sitting with either his mother or caretaker. In his hand was a Rubik’s Cube.

As I began to eat my slice of pizza, out of the corner of my eye I’m watching him turn and twist the colored panels around and match them together. Before I was even able to finish my slice of pizza, he had solved it and placed it on the table.

What’s even more incredible, is that half the time he was solving it, he was either looking out the window or closing his eyes. He wasn’t even looking at what his hands were doing. It’s like they knew what to do.

After being speechless, I walked over and told him how incredible and amazing that was. He thanked me and proceeded to tell me that he can solve it in less than 2 minutes.

Needless to say, I was amazed and enlightened to know that where some individuals lack, they exceed in many others. I’m using this as momentum to continue to see the good and positive aspects of life and those around me.

Get out there and #inspire yourself to find your amazing.

Ever Notice Luck Comes In Waves…

Recently had some bad luck roll my way with some materialistic things happen that cost me some big bucks. While it was becoming frustrating every where I turned there was another bill, sometimes that’s just way your luck comes about. I kept telling myself that I was thankful enough to have the means to pay my bills while also having a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in my stomach.

I can’t even tell you when it began, but there it was right after the holiday season it seemed like things were just building up for the worse. One thing right away the other and I was getting bogged down for a while.

Impact of Small Changes

In the New Year I am trying to be a bit more open minded about changing things in my life, that may not seem like a big deal, but can be.

For example, last year at the ring in of the New Year I changed the way I parted my hair. GASP! I know big deal right? Well it didn’t seem like that big of a deal at the time and was more of a nuisance really. Read More
